New York Times: “A Rose Is a Rose Is a Song Is a Song”

What do Gertrude Stein and Prince have in common? “They’re both androgynous,” said the songwriter-musician Heather Christian playfully, after rehearsals for the new theater piece, “The World is Round,” based on Stein’s children’s book of the same name. They also have a tendency to repeat themselves. Particularly Stein, whose famed circular line “rose is a rose is a rose is a rose” comes from that 1938 book. —New York Times
